Customers with NORDUnet on-prem Zoom and on-prem Kaltura can get integration between the two, such that Zoom cloud recordings are automatically uploaded to the user's "My Media" folder in Kaltura.
Setup
To setup we need the following information from the institution (detailed explanation below):
- Institution name and domain.
- E.g. NORDUnet (nordu.net)
- Kaltura Partner ID.
- E.g. 141
- Fallback user id in Kaltura.
- E.g. fallback@nordu.net
- Contact information.
- Service Name. (Optional)
- E.g. NORDUnet Video
- Service URL. (Optional)
- Mail Footer. (Optional)
- E.g. More information:
https://support.nordu.net/hc/en-us
- E.g. More information:
- BCC on fallback (Optional)
- True or false (default is false)
Fallback user and contact info
When a recording is received from Zoom, we use the email address to try to find a matching user in Kaltura. If there is no (or multiple) user(s) with a matching email address in Kaltura, we cannot assign the video to the user. In this case the video is assigned to the fallback user instead. An email is sent to the user with the contact info and entry IDs for the videos. The user can then contact the institution and the admins can find the videos in the KMC.
The fallback user can be either a KMC user or a KMS/KAF user. The contact info can be either an email address or a link to a support/ticketing site.
Service Name, URL and Mail Footer
When a video is completed an email is sent to the user. To make this email more familiar to the user, the institutions can customize some parameters. The mail template with the parameters can be seen below.
Subject: Zoom recording added to {serviceName}
Text Body:
Hi,
Your Zoom recording has been uploaded to {serviceName}.
Find the recording at {serviceUrl} in your personal "My Media" folder.
Title: {meetingTitle}
Video ID(s): {entryIds}
{footer}
The default values for these parameters if they are not specified by the institution are:
- serviceName: "Kaltura"
- serviceUrl: "your organization's Kaltura installation"
- footer: "" - Empty for now, will include a link to a support article.
- meetingTitle and entryIds are set by the application.
When a user cannot be found, the following template is used.
Subject: Zoom recording problem in {serviceName}
Text Body:
Hi,
While uploading your recording to {serviceName} we were unable to find an account with your email address.
In order to get your Zoom recording contact:
{contact} (Please include the below listed title and IDs)
Title: {meetingTitle}
Video ID(s): {entryIds}
{footer}
BCC on Fallback
When the fallback is used an email is sent to the user. With this option enabled, that email is also BCC'ed to the contact email. For this to be enabled the contact must be an email address.
Transcoding Profile
When Zoom recordings are uploaded to Kaltura they use a separate transcoding profile called: "NDN Zoom Ingestion".
This profile is automatically created when the first Zoom recording is received, and by default is setup with the following flavors:
- Source
- Basic/Small - WEB/MBL (H264/600)
- HD/720 - WEB (H264/2500)
- HD/1080 - WEB (H264/4000)
These can be changed in the KMC. Note, if you remove the Source flavor, users will not be able to edit videos.
